Abstract:
AI is reshaping how teams build software, but what does it mean for Agile principles? Specifically, “Continuous attention to technical excellence and good design enhances agility”. That was the case in 2001. Is this still true in 2025 and in the age of AI? If AI is generating the code, do we care if the code is easy to read, maintain, and update for humans? In this talk, we will take a tour of six main agile engineering practices and assess how AI is impacting them. For each practice, we’ll identify its main benefits, current usage/adoption, and what its future looks like with AI. Do we still care about quality engineering? Do we still need to follow design best practices? What about techniques like TDD and pairing? Come to this talk to see what quality engineering will look like in 2025 and beyond, and leave with a plan for how to start adjusting to our new reality.
