On May 5, 2026, Fadi Stephan and Stephen Ritchie attended the Global Scrum Gathering in Vancouver, Canada, and presented The Impact of AI on Agile Engineering Practices. Below are some of the resources mentioned in the talk:

Abstract

AI and vibe coding is reshaping how teams build software, but what about our Agile principles and practices? Specifically,

“Continuous attention to technical excellence and good design enhances agility”.

That was the case in 2001. Is this still true in 2026 and in the age of AI? If AI is generating the code, do we care if the code is easy to read, maintain, and update for humans?

In this talk, we will take a tour of six main agile engineering practices and assess how AI is impacting them. For each practice, we’ll identify its main benefits, current usage/adoption, and what its future looks like with AI. Do we still care about quality engineering? Test automation? Do we still need to follow design best practices? What about techniques like TDD, pairing, and collective code ownership?

Come to this talk to see what quality engineering will look like in 2026 and beyond, and leave with a plan for how to start helping your team adjust to the new reality of product development.
